Ship Risk Profile Calculator

The Ship Risk Profile Calculator evaluates if a Ship will be considered Low Risk Ship (LRS), High Risk Ship (HRS) or Standard Risk Ship (SRS) according article 10 and Annexes I and II of the new PSC Directive 2009/16/EC.

The priority status as per article 5 and Annex I is derived from the SRP in combination with the time since the last inspection in the PMOU area.

The priority as indicated below the calculator puts an obligation (P1) or an option (P2) on a member State to inspect to inspect a ship calling one of her ports.

In case of a Priority 2 ship it is up to the member State to decide whether it will select the ship for inspection. In case the ship is Priority 1, the member State has to ensure that the ship is inspected before it leaves the port.

It should be noted that nothing prevents any State from carrying out additional inspections if such is deemed appropriate

This calculator is only a tool to help users and is without prejudice to the Directive 2009/16/EC. Therefore, it cannot have legal effects.

Notes

(1) The PMOU list of flag State performance may be consulted here
(2) To know if a flag State has passed the Voluntary IMO Member State Audit, please contact the flag State Authority
(3) The PMOU list of Recognized Organisation (RO) performance may be consulted here
(4) To know if the RO is EU Recognized according to Directive 2009/15/EC, please contact the RO Office or consult the website of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) here
(5) The company performance is a benchmarking approach where the ratios detentions vs. inspections and deficiencies vs. inspections for all ships in the company’s fleet are compared with those of other companies which have ships calling the Paris MoU Region. To be High Performance, the company needs to have both ratios below average. The company performance is a new requirement which will be introduced by the implementing Regulation in accordance with Article 10(3) of Directive 2009/16/EC on PSC. A preliminary calculator is available here.
