BCSEA Tutoring Project on Port State Control

Tutoring Project on Port State Control (PSC) was held on 16 – 20 April 2018 in Aktau, Kazakhstan, within the technical assistance which EMSA provides to European Neighbourhood Policy countries under the Black and Caspian Sea Regions Project. The event was a five days training course divided into theoretical and practical parts under the tutorship of two experienced EU Member States’ Port State Control officers, Mr Aarnout Salwegter from the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate and CWO Andrea Cicotto from the Italian Coast Guard. They shared valuable knowledge on PSC in accordance with the international conventions, IMO procedures, EU legislation and the New Inspection Regime, followed by giving the participants practical experience through training inspections on ships in the Port of Aktau. This support to the Maritime Administration of Kazakhstan contributed to developing an efficient PSC body needed to implement Port State Control properly and effectively.
