BCSEA Project LRIT Training and meeting on AIS in Batumi

Two days LRIT training session was carried out in the Black and Caspian Sea regions EU financed Project beneficiary country Georgia.

The event which was organised under the Project’s bilateral component was attended by 14 staff members of the Georgian Administration in Batumi on 6 – 7 November 2019. The event was organized in cooperation with the MTA and took place in the premises of the Maritime Academy and in the MRCC Batumi. The training focussed on the LRIT system, along with specific training on LRIT CDC and LRIT Ship DB User Web Interfaces.

In addition to the training, the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia expressed their interest on the participation of Georgia in the Mediterranean Regional Server (MARES) to share T-AIS information with MARES Member States and with other beneficiaries of the BCSEA project, as well as on the implementation of the National Single Window Project, which steamed from their Association Agreement with the EU.

The training event was carried out by lectures, practical examples and group exercises with the active participation on behalf of participants, who showed a high interest and commitment in using the EU LRIT Ship Database and EU LRIT CDC. Regarding the participation of Georgia in MARES it will give them the possibility to get access to the traffic image of the entire Black Sea regional as well as wider area of the sea areas monitored within MARES.
