MCGFF 2017 Plenary Conference Antalya

On the 12-13 October 2017, the Turkish Coast Guard organised the plenary conferences on the Mediterranean Coast Guard Functions Forum in Antalya (Turkey). As part of the implementation of its capacity building tasks, EMSA supported the participation of five representatives from Mediterranean Countries beneficiaries of the SAFEMED IV Project on technical assistance; namely Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia. Overall, representatives from 11 Mediterranean Countries participated to the plenary conference. DG MARE, EFCA, FRONTEX together with REMPEC also joined the conference. The main achievements and conclusions are as follows:

• The development of a directory of Mediterranean Organizations carrying out Coast Guard Functions;

• The mapping of existing Training Centres of the various Coast Guards in the Mediterranean Sea;

• The organisation of a special session of the MCGFF 2017 Conferences on sharing best practices and experiences obtained in other Coast Guard Functions for a;

• The update of the Point of Contact List of the MCGFF Members

• The establishment of working groups on ‘Blue Fund’ and ‘Ballast Water Management’

At the end of the Conference, the chairmanship was transferred from Turkey to France
