Institutional Training - Live broadcast

Institutional

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and the uncertainties regarding its future evolution, the Agency has taken the decision, for the time being, to postpone all traditional planned “face-to-face” training actions, as a precautionary measure and in order to prioritise the safety of participants and staff.

In order to ensure continuity of the capacity building services offered to Member States, the Agency delivered the Institutional training on a live broadcasting synchronous mode using the Microsoft Teams application, on 27/05/2020 and 28/05/2020.

The course focused on the role of IMO, EU, EC and EMSA in the maritime domain. It provided information on the background and function of the International Maritime Organisation, the process for the main instruments adoption, IMSAS status, the structure of the EU, the EU Legislative process, the involvement and the mandate of the European Commission as concerns maritime issues and the collaboration with MSs, detailed information on EMSA structure and latest developments, role and tasks, as well as the role of other EU institutions which work in close co-operation with the Agency.

The training was attended by paricipants from 22 Member States including Iceland, while lecturers from DG MOVE and WMU participated in the panel.
