On 30 September the European Commission (DG MARE) in cooperation with the European Maritime and Safety Agency (EMSA) will hold an online workshop dedicated to the newly adopted European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and the funding opportunities it offers to Member States to support their activities related to the Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE) for the maritime domain.

The EMFAF, established on 6 July 2021, will run from 2021 to 2027 and will support the EU common fisheries policy (CFP), the EU agenda for international ocean governance and the EU maritime policy. In the area of maritime security, the fund will financially support actions contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the Common Information Sharing Environment, facilitating information exchange between public authorities involved in maritime surveillance across EU countries and EU institutions.

During the “EMFAF workshop”, organised on 30 September by the European Commission (DG MARE) with the support of EMSA, participants will have the opportunity to learn all the important details about the fund, including the available budget and timeframes. Most importantly, they will learn how national authorities can use the fund in the implementation of CISE. EMSA will also explain the costs related to the technical setup of CISE. To provide a better understanding of the application and implementation process, the Member States participating in the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (2014-2020) will share their experience in using the fund.

The workshop is open to stakeholders already involved in CISE, as well as to maritime authorities interested in joining the network. The registration closes on 23 September 2021. For further information about the training, please contact cise@emsa.europa.eu.
