Component 1 – Transposition and implementation of maritime European and international legislation

Description

When a new or amended EU or international legal act enters into force, the competent authority of a State should be in a position to implement and enforce its provisions through appropriate national legislation and to provide the necessary implementation and enforcement measures. This means that the State should have the ability to promulgate laws and the legal basis for the enforcement of national laws and regulations including the associated investigative and penal processes.

In order to further strengthen the national capacity in the area of legal transposition of States applying for accession to the Union (IPA) aiming at fostering the promulgation of EU and international legal instruments into national legislation, EMSA has included in its portfolio of activities offered within the context of capacity building, technical assistance for the Transposition, Implementation, and Enforcement of European and international maritime legislation.
