Training on IMSAS to Jordan

Training course IMSAS Jordan 09.2026

EMSA has successfully delivered a Training course on the International Maritime Organization’s Member States Audit Scheme (IMSAS) to Jordan, upon request by this country as SAFEMED V Project beneficiary.

The course was conducted from 21 to 23 September 2026 in Aqaba at the Jordan maritime Commission (JMC) premises, in preparation for the audit to be carried out in 2028.

This course was provided as part of a broader technical assistance package on IMSAS that includes preparatory “mock” audits of IMO Member States’ national administrations and support during the conduct and follow-up activities of the IMSAS audit.

The training course is a combination of lectures and practical exercises covering the responsibilities of IMO Member States as a Contracting Government, a flag State, a coastal State, and a port State, as defined in the IMO Instruments Implementation (III) Code.

The cyclical nature of the Audit Scheme has increased interest in this type of training, along with other modes of support related to IMSAS.

Furthermore, to complement the material, on 24 September the EMSA speakers delivered a short training session on principles of auditing and auditing techniques.

EMSA will continue to prioritise capacity building activities in this field, recognising the added value of cooperation in this area, and will continue to provide training to all project’s countries seeking strengthen their capacities.
