Montenegro supported to participate to the Paris MoU 65th Port State Control Seminar in Copenhagen on 19-21 June 2018

The Paris MoU regularly arranges training courses and seminars for Port State Control Officers (PSCO’s), to ensure effective and harmonized inspection procedures, which are followed throughout the Paris MoU region. The 65th Port State Control Seminar was held in Copenhagen on 19-21 June 2018. The participants were informed of developments of Port State Control and EU/EMSA developments. Presentations included information on MLC 2006, on maintenance and certification of life rafts and on the concentrated campaign on MARPOL Annex VI.

Montenegro is a cooperating state of the Paris MoU and is invited to the organisation’s seminars and trainings. Funding from EMSA’s project made the participation of one PSCO from Montenegro to the seminar possible.

The EU regime on Port State Control (Directive 2009/16/EU) has been based on the pre-existing structure of the Paris MoU, and the progress of the enlargement countries in the Paris MoU context is therefore of high interest of the EU.
