Traineeship - Eligibility

To be eligible for an EMSA traineeship, you must have completed your university studies no longer than three years prior to the deadline of your application.

You must be a national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland, or Norway.

We will only accept qualifications that have been awarded in EU Member States or that are subject to the equivalence certificates issued by the authorities in the EU Member States. Degrees awarded by the United Kingdom up to 31/12/2020 are considered valid.

The main working language in the field of maritime safety is English. As a result, you must have a very good command of oral and written English (at least B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Skills).

Only applications sent to us in the context of a published traineeship notice, electronically via the EMSA website before the published deadline, are eligible for consideration.
