The EMSA Academy is committed to deliver a variety of learning services targeting different needs and expectations of its community, which are defined through a structured training need analysis. The growing portfolio of activities allows for various delivery strategies, topics, and outreach.

The Academy has adopted a blended learning pedagogical philosophy, which enables the design and delivery of learning services in an approach that combines self-paced components with sessions requiring live interaction, either with instructors or among participants, delivered online or in person.

Its portfolio includes a wide variety of learning services ranging from specific maritime job profiles such as flag State inspectors and port State Control Officers to very specific functions, legislation, or EMSA applications, such as it’s the case for the Integrated Maritime Services, CleanSeaNet, or Automated Behaviour Monitoring. The duration of the learning services can range from two days for very specific topics to several weeks for very complex and multifaceted job profiles. Currently the portfolio includes Common Core Curricula, Part-time courses, Short-Courses, and Digital Learning Modules. 

An EMSA Academy certificate is provided verifying achievement of learning outcomes, participation, and the demonstration of knowledge and specific skills based on pre-defined thresholds.

On top of the learning services, the Academy also strives to promote technical content through awareness sessions and webinars. While those are not formally considered learning services, they enhance the capacity building portfolio of activities.
